The 12th National Laboratory Equipment, Chemicals, Testing and Advanced Tests Exhibition (IranLab 2024) aims to support knowledge-based companies and technology providers while expanding market opportunities within industrial sectors.
Sadegh Tavassoli-Zadeh, Head of the Center for the Management of Special Headquarters for the Development of the Knowledge-Based Economy at the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, in an interview with the Communications and Information Center of the Vice Presidency, referred to the plans made for holding the 12th Iran-Made Laboratory Equipment, Chemicals, Testing and Advanced Tests Exhibition and stated: The exhibition will be held from December 13 to December 16, 2024 (23–26 Azar 1403), concurrently with the 24th Research, Technology, and Tech Market Exhibition of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology at the Tehran International Fairground.
He added that the 11th edition of the exhibition, held in January 2024, hosted approximately 370 companies presenting more than 9,000 product models, which have so far generated approximately 156 billion tomans in product sales through the exhibition.
Maturity of Participating Companies
Tavassoli-Zadeh described “market development alongside technology development and company growth” as one of the primary objectives of the Iran-Made program and continued: “In recent years, based on feedback received from participating companies and buyers—such as requests for lower equipment prices due to technological advancement and improved production processes, or the purchase of high-tech equipment by buyers without requiring support from the Vice Presidency—it is evident that the support provided by the Vice Presidency has, to a considerable extent, contributed to the maturity of companies participating in the exhibition.”
Fourteen Specialized Sections
The Deputy Head of the Iran-Made Laboratory Equipment, Chemicals, Testing and Advanced Tests Exhibition stated that, as in previous editions, the exhibition will be organized into fourteen thematic sections: Oil and Petrochemicals, Electronics, Software, and Simulators, Civil Engineering and Construction, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry and Metallurgy, Agriculture and Environment, Basic Physics, General Laboratory Equipment, Laboratory Materials and Chemicals, Medical Engineering and Biomaterials, Laboratory Furniture and Infrastructure Services, Calibration Services, Educational Equipment, School Laboratory Equipment
Regarding the distinction of this year’s exhibition, he stated that companies will be able to present not only laboratory equipment required by universities and research centers, but also products suitable for testing and examination applications in various industrial sectors.
Tavassoli-Zadeh further explained that final participation in the exhibition will only be possible after technical approval of the products and verification of the company’s role in localization efforts and the acquisition of manufacturing or production technology.
According to him, products will be evaluated and classified based on knowledge-based criteria, intrinsic technology level, and degree of localization. Companies can review the technical product evaluation guidelines on the exhibition website.

Support for Domestic Manufacturers and Innovators
The Head of the Center for the Management of Special Headquarters for the Development of the Knowledge-Based Economy referred to the support programs available through the exhibition and stated: As in previous years, subsidies will be granted for Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 products presented by participating companies. Governmental scientific and research institutions purchasing these products will receive support equivalent to 40%, 25%, and 10% of the product price, respectively, in accordance with the classification regulations.
Sadegh Tavassoli-Zadeh added: “In order to support the quality improvement of products presented at the exhibition, an additional 5% support will be granted to products that have obtained CE certification, product conformity certification, standards compliance certification, or industrial design certification.”
Company Registration and Product Registration
Referring to the start of the company and product registration process on the exhibition website, Tavassoli-Zadeh stated: “In order to facilitate coordination among universities and scientific and research institutions across the country and provide sufficient time for product evaluation, the process of issuing proforma invoices by companies will begin before the exhibition. It is understood that contract signing and finalization of purchases will take place after the exhibition.”
Creating a Permanent Platform for Matching Supply and Demand
The Deputy Head of the Iran-Made Exhibition stated: “In order to further stimulate the market for suppliers of laboratory equipment and materials and create a permanent platform for matching supply and demand, leasing facilities have been considered for private-sector buyers. In this edition of the exhibition, more than one fund will be introduced as financial and legal agents for the conclusion of exhibition-related contracts.”
He concluded: “Given that this program is implemented throughout the year, manufacturers of related products that have participated in the exhibition may register new products on the exhibition website at any time during the year.”
